Autumn Equinox Event

The Autumn Equinox is the time of equal day and night that marks the passing into the dark time of year.

It is a time to pay homage to the Sun and Solar Gods, such as Mabon and Michael, as their time is passing but we seek their inspiration and light as we move into the dark.

It is a time to give thanks for the bounty of the Earth and its fertility as the last of the summer harvests are completed, autumn apples and grapes ripen, winter food plants are going into the ground and fields are strengthened for the next spring growing season.

In this moment we remember and honour the awesome power of nature to renew itself.

At this moment as the Sun enters topical Libra and rises due east and sets due west, it is a natural moment for gratitude and to give time to marvel at the time of deepest ripening. It is time to begin to seek protection as autumn is too a sign of winter’s chill.

The whole event itself will be a ceremony to honour the gods who offer themselves through wheat as food.

We will explore the folklore of the Autumn Equinox, Mabon, and share songs and visions of celebration. This is also a live rite, interactive, where all the participants will be collaborating on it as part of the ritual alongside the event’s conductor.

We are going to be exploring how the changes in the world are changing the Wheel of the Year and how this affects the seasons.
